Are You a Vata, Pitta, or Kapha Dosha?

Did you know you could fall into one of these categories when it comes to yoga? Luckily, we are here to break down the three dosha’s to offer a better understanding. Typically finding out if you fall under Pitta, Vata or Kapha means identifying with certain aspects of your own personality.

Vata Dosha:

Characterized by elements space and air, typically this falls towards an individual who is slender, fast-acting as well as, fast moving and typically on the go all the time. These individuals are highly creative, always acting (sometimes on impulse) and sometimes their negative qualities can catapult over their positive attributes.

Pitta Dosha:

Characterized as having a fiery nature or personality (think astrological signs Aries, Leo, or Sagittarius), a quick tongue. Associated with fire and water, so an individual with qualities such as hot, movement, liquid or sharp (this can be based on from daily activities. Pitta’s tend to be highly driven individuals, joyous and oddly enough a quick angered temper. Pitta’s for instance, greatly benefit from the yoga pose downward dog and child’s pose.

Kapha Dosha:

Characterized by its elements of earth and water. Kapha’s are a grounded individual who tends to have a calm presence about them. Compassionate and full of expression, Kapha’s are essentially the glue of a friendship. Or, an individual who can quiet a heated discussion.
