Men’s Wearhouse National Suit Drive

Give a suit. Change a life. This July, Men’s Wearhouse is hosting its fifth annual National Suit Drive, the country’s largest collection of gently used professional clothing. The event encourages Americans to donate unwanted business attire and give unemployed men a chance to look their best as they re-enter the workforce. According to Steve Cook, the Vice President of Corporate Giving for Men’s Wearhouse,

It only takes a split second to make a first impression, and wearing the right suit to an interview sends a message of confidence and success. Since everyone cannot afford a new suit, we aim to help unemployed workers put their best foot forward.”

This year the Nation Suit Drive started off with a bang at the 66th Annual Tony Awards Backstage Creations Celebrity Retreat. Tyler Perry, Amanda Seyfried, Jesse Tyler Furgerson and John Larroquette were among the stars who personally styled suits to be donated to the drive on their behalf. Following the Tony Awards was the Suit Off My Back kickoff event. Taking place in eleven major cities, male models strip down to only their boxers, ties and dress shoes to spread the word about the drive and encourage the public to donate.

Last year, about 102,000 professional attire items were collected; 22,726 of those items were full suits. This year the stakes have been raised with a goal of  110,000 items. Dress shoes and big and tall business attire are in especially high demand this year.

To donate clothing, visit one of over 900 Men’s Wearhouse and Tux stores during the month of July. Men’s suit, shirts, jackets, ties, belts and shoes are all welcome and women’s professional clothing items are accepted as well. Donated items are distributed to 200 local nonprofit partners that prepare men and women to re-enter the workforce through a number of career services.

No man should be denied opportunities because he lacks the appropriate wardrobe. Men’s Wearhouse strives to make all men look and feel their best whether they are customers or they benefit from philanthropic efforts. For every suit donated, Men’s Wearhouse will donate two ties to the cause. As a thank you, donors will receive a coupon for 50% off the regular price of all retail items for their next Men’s Wearhouse purchase.
