Everyone wants a powerful life but when we start our morning with a million and one things “To Do” on our list, before we know it, we can begin to feel completely powerless. So how can we stay on track, even in the chaos and reality of a busy life?
5 Steps To Powerful Living
1. Keep Your Perspective
It’s not our circumstances in life that hold us back, it’s our perspective and daily response to these circumstances that really matter. Life isn’t easy. No one gets a break. But we don’t have to focus on everything we lack. Our ability to choose can be our best weapon against a negative war in our head. Choose to see the positive. Dig deep for the possibility.
2. Make Your Thoughts Obey Your Goals
Our thoughts create our life. We’re bombarded with messages all day long. When we succumb to the negative press in the media, the chatter in our own head and the whining of our coworker, we can feel like we’re the farthest thing from being powerful. The truth however is that we control what we focus on.
No one else is managing our brain or our thoughts. We do that. Make those negative messages fall to the ground with the simple act of saying, I’m not going to focus there.” Grab your thoughts and remind them of your goal. Affirm your purpose and your mission. Then, like a military soldier, charge ahead! We’re not victims. Our thoughts will either support us or destroy us. It’s our responsibility to decide our own outcome.
3. Clean Up The Room, Daily
Forgiveness is a big key to powerful living. Forgiving yourself, and others, daily, helps to regenerate, renew and rebuild. Keep short accounts. Don’t stew over things. Let it go with a conscious act of your will. If the offense involves trauma, or something very big that keeps showing up, work with a therapist or minister to help you walk through the pain.
Just like a house that isn’t maintained or kept clean makes the people who live in it feel distracted and messy internally, a heart that isn’t regularly cleaned up will find it very difficult to live a powerful life. You deserve a wonderful life! Walk in forgiveness.
4. Get Back Up
This one is my personal life secret that my Daddy taught me as a very little girl. When we make mistakes, or were worried about what might happen next, it’s empowering to realize that no matter what happens we CAN always get back up. Rocky Balboa said to his son something I hold dearly in my heart, “It ain’t about how hard you can hit its about how hard you can GET HIT and keep moving forward!” . Fight back. Don’t sink.
When I’ve gone through some horrific business challenges, health issues, losses and more, my greatest weapon against these trials is that I refuse to stay down. Even if I need people to pick me back up and hold me up, I’ll do that, but I’m not going to stay down.
5. Speak Life
How we speak to and about ourselves will influence who we become and how powerful we will live. Self-judgment and criticism harms so many people every single day. Don’t be your own worst enemy. Be your own best advocate for powerful living! Our tongue can create either life or death. We will either lift ourselves up or tear ourselves down.
The daily habit of how we choose to speak about others, and ourselves will influence what kind of life we have. The way we talk about ourselves has to be supportive and powerful if we want to live a powerful on life.
Life is a journey. To live powerfully we must make right choices and also, remember to give ourselves grace. No one is perfect. No one has it all together. We’re all about 75% on our best day. Realizing this can solve a lot of problems. You do deserve a wonderful life! I hope these tips help you to walk that out, because the world needs you!
